This proliferation of satellites....how is there funding for them all? How can they possibly be adding enough value in comparison to what is already there?
The number of satellites isn't always an indicator of profitability! For example, Planet, despite its large constellation, has yet to post a profitable quarter!
Many satellite manufacturers rely on venture capital and government contracts to sustain operations while they build out their services. The real question is whether they can differentiate their technology and offerings enough—and whether there is actual market demand to drive profitable and sustainable operations.
That is the question indeed! I feel that, the more there are of them, the more the answer will trend toward "no" for any new entrant....The capital and contracts might be better spent on analysis of the data we are already gathering.
